Atlantic High School
Class of 1975
30th Year Reunion
June 17 – June 19, 2005

The weekend started out early with the arrival of many of our classmates in mid week. We all started out with a luncheon at the Banana Boat at noon, with almost 25 women, and a few men showing up. The men left shortly to find refuge at the outside bar for some conversation of their own and the peacefulness of a glass window. You could hear us outside with the door closed. What a kick off to the weekend.

Friday night started off at 7:00 PM at Delray Dunes. We were catered to by the staff with luscious hor d'oeuvres , plenty of drinks, great memories, laughter and squeals of joy of meeting a long lost classmate. We were joined by
a few teachers, including Jackie Staples, Clara Defrank, Genia Howard, Dick Witta, Norm and Betty Price, Sally Talbert, Janet Stephens-Brown and Alice Finst. We have Greg Weekes, Sherri McCoy Weekes and the staff of Delray Dunes to thank for that wonderful night. We have Aurora Siegl to thank for making everyones night easier by making the name tags. The party didn't stop when we had to leave Delray Dunes, some party's continued to The Frog or back to the Banana Boat.

The golf tourney started at 9:00 am with 7 foursomes starting shotgun style at Delray Dunes and then they had a wonderful lunch at the club house. Never found out who won? But, I don't think they cared. Some were still
recuperating from the night before. Thanks goes to Greg Weekes & Delray Dunes.

Onto Saturday night, the wonderful, memorable night at Quail Ridge, started with being greeted at the door by the photographer who took many, many pictures. We checked everyone in and that is where they received their Reunion Booklet. We then went into the cocktail hour, with scrumptious hor d'oeuvres, plentiful cocktails, and videos running. We were then ushered into the dining area, where we were greeted by the DJ, playing many songs that I know brought back memories. The tables were set up with floral & candle arrangements, pennants, footballs, and eagle bobble heads. Karen gave a welcoming speech, Aurora spoke about the contributations of our classmates. Adam spoke about the Blake and his contributations and love for his class and how proud he would be
of the reunion. Wesley than gave a very poignant invocation that gave us a lot to be thankful for. We then were served a wonderful buffet by the Quail Ridge staff, the food was tremendous, plentiful and tastefully done. Dessert
was served and the party started. The dancing started and more pictures were taken. The party eventually moved to other places (Banana Boat & The Frog) and continued into the early hours of the morning. The thanks goes to Karen Adams & Colette Northup, Sharon Powell, Susen Gwynn and a host of others that I can't thank enough.

On Sunday, we showed up to the picnic that was underway. Drew and Ken did a tremendous job, Drew brought in huge fans which kept us cool. We were under a huge pavilion and Bud's catered it. The food and company were great. There were about 70 of us diehards out there. The rains finally came, the good-byes started and the reunion weekend came to a end.

Would also like to mention that this web page is compliment of Michael Castello, whose has done tremendous work to keep everyone up to date for our reunion.

I can not thank the entire reunion committee enough for all the long, tiring, hard work to bring this event together. So, thank you. It was a pleasure working with you all.

(note: Rick Freed was our guitar player when we won the battle of the bands at the WPB Fairgrounds in 1974. Our family and Rick's went through the rough times when Rick's brother died at AHS. Eric Clapton's Layla was his brother's favorite song. Music always played a large part of Rick Freed's life. - The Castello Family)

Rick Freed Memorial
I've been thinking a lot about Rick lately,
and I just can't get this song (Lean on me) out of my head!

We leaned on each other so many times in our lives.

Thank you Rick, most of all, for inviting me to a service at First Baptist Church on March 28, 1972 where I made my walk forward for Jesus.

Rest in peace my brother, see you on the other side.

Mark
